Susie Stephenson started Physician's Home Medical Equipment in 1994 to give customers better services and extra convenience. Now 15 years later, the customers have shown their gratitude for all her hard work by making Physician's Home Medical Equipment the winner of the 2009 Readers' Choice Award for "Best Medical Equipment Supply."

"Physician's Home Medical Equipment is very proud of the education it offers to patients and their family members," Susie said. "We hand-deliver all our supplies and equipment to the door, face-to-face with the patient so that he or she is better educated on its use and need." Physician's Home Medical Equipment started with three employees covering a smaller service area in 1994. In the years since, the business has grown to 15 employees covering a much larger area.

Susie's commitment to her customers extends beyond the walls of her store. She has been a chairperson for the annual Senior Expo and both she and her employees regularly volunteer their time.

"We have always maintained a high involvement in the senior citizen community," Susie said. "We host, sponsor and volunteer for numerous year-round events from Christmas parties to bingo socials. Our employees care about and look forward to participating in local senior citizen events. Going the extra mile inside and outside of the Physician's Home Medical Equipment office is what sets us apart."

Physician's Home Medical Equipment prides itself on giving customers the products they need with the customer service they deserve. The store offers one-stop shopping for both equipment and supplies, saving shoppers extra trips to other outlets for their needs.

Susie got into the medical equipment business more than 20 years ago as a receptionist. In that time, she learned that she loved working with elderly or challenged patients and their families. She took what she had learned in those early years and set out to open her own business. Her goal was to expand what the existing medical supply companies were doing and give her customers a wider selection of products and superior service. Not only did her work improve the quality of life for her patients, but it inspired her to better herself as well. The selling and setting up of medical equipment gave her the motivation she needed to continue her education in the respiratory field.

Through her work with in the store and her involvement in the community, Susie has formed a special bond with her customers. This year's Readers' Choice Award is just one way that the community has shown its appreciation for all she and her business have done.

"We are extremely proud to have won the Readers' Choice Award," Susie said. "We want to give a big thank you to the customers who have kept us prominent in the Brazos Valley for the past 15 years. It means so much our company when our customers recognize our hard work and everything we do for them."
