The staff at Home Instead Senior Care pride themselves on taking care of their clients, and the Brazos Valley has taken notice with Home Instead winning The Eagle's Readers' Choice Award for Best Home Healthcare Provider.
Home Instead's co-owner David Gest said the success of the business starts with the employees. Due to the personal nature of the service Home Instead provides, having the right people in place can make the difference between success and failure.
“I prefer to believe that we won [Best Home Healthcare Provider] because we are very careful about hiring the right CAREGivers and we put them through an extensive training program that really prepares them for doing this kind of work,” Gest said. “We're dependable and compassionate, and we really have a great team of people that genuinely care about working with seniors.”
Home Instead's clients enjoy one-on-one care from the company's trained staff of CAREGivers. The CAREGivers allow seniors to live in their own home instead of with family or in an assisted living facility. This allows the senior to feel safe in familiar surroundings and also allows the family to be secure in knowing their loved one is in good hands.
“We're inspired by our clients,” Gest said. “We learn so many life lessons from them and it's very gratifying to learn from the Greatest Generation.”
The business was started in Bryan/College Station in January of 2002. Gest and his business partner Chris Handlin purchased a franchise after Handlin's mother used the service from a franchise in Fort Worth. Handlin was so impressed with the care his mother received that he was inspired to take the opportunity to provide the same quality care to the people of the Brazos Valley.
In the years since, Gest and Handlin built a business that has gained the trust and respect of people in the Bryan/College Station area. By not cutting corners when it comes to hiring the best possible staff, and making sure those employees know they are appreciated, Gest and Handlin have continued to thrive in their seventh year of business.
This is Home Instead's first Readers' Choice Award, and Gest is quick to point out that the win has everything to do with having satisfied clients.
“It's an honor to win Readers' Choice because there are so many worthy competitors,” Gest said. “At the end of the day, I don't see Home Instead Senior Care as winners. I see the clients of Home Instead as the winners because they are able to live in the comfort of their own homes and do so with dignity. The smiles on the faces of our clients are the best award we can receive.”
